A note from our Chairwoman, Petra Stephenson:
It is an honour to be asked to chair East Cornwall Bach Choir again this year, My husband and I moved to Looe in 2015 and we have been very privileged to be part of this very able and friendly choir. We have had a very enjoyable year singing Russian music at Christmas, Orff’s Carmina Burana at our Singing Day, Handel and other Baroque music at Easter with our splendid soloist Austin Blackburn, and finishing with Mozart’s C minor Mass with orchestra in the grand setting of St Germans. The support and enthusiasm of our audiences and Patrons make the hard work all very worthwhile, and we are very pleased to welcome new members to both, and hope that you will all continue to support this wonderful choir.
Our Christmas concert starts the new season with our Nine Lessons and Carols at St Germans and then a concert of Benjamin Britten’s music where we will be joined by soloists Katie McClaughrey, Tenor Nick Hawker and pianists Jonathan Delbridge and Paul Comeau.
Our Singing Day in Liskeard will, as usual, be open to everyone. We will be working on Haydn’s Nelson Mass and will welcome all those who would like to sing with us through the day or to listen to our performance in the early evening.
At Easter we will be celebrating the 250th anniversary of Beethoven’s birth by singing the Beethoven Mass in C.
For our June concert we return to St. Germans Church, - our spiritual home and a perfect setting for a summer’s evening! We will be joined by Jonathan Delbridge and Paul Comeau as we sing the Brahms Liebeslieder Walzer and Elgar’s from the Bavarian Highlands
We look forward to our rehearsals this year, and to sharing this great gift of music with our local communities.
